I am interested in any information on the Family of John Slattery born 1834 in Ireland. He served in the Kings Own Borderers based in York and Berwick barracks in 1871/81. John retired to Manchester, married again late in life and died there in 1900. He married twice (his first wife Margaret I think) and had a daughter Mary Slattery born in approx 1859 in Portsmouth. I know that Mary married 3 times to John Heffernan, approx 1875, Patrick Garrity 1884 and Thomas Elkin in 1892. John Heffernan and Patrick Garrity served and died in service of the Kings Own borderers and she had various children with each husband. I know a lot detail about the family after 1880 but can find minimal or no records of John and Mary before this time. There are no GRO birth records listed in Portsmouth of Mary so I cannot verify this in anyway. Any information is greatly received |
