Find Ancestors

I am trying to find a date of birth for Thomas H Young. He is born between 1854-1856 and is the son of Thomas Frederick Young b 1832 Shoreham,Sussex and Elizabeth ? b 1831 Hayle, Cornwall.

I think he may have married an american woman Laura Sims around 1868-1874, can anyone find a passage to America for him?

I have also been trying to find Elizabeth's maiden name?
Any ideas.

This would seem to be the correct family but Head of house is Thomas White, Elizabeth Young is noted as Wife and the children are also noted as Young.

Just trying to pin down Thomas Henry's birth, because I seem to remember a birth in 1856 Eastry, Kent, which could also be him. Then there's the Falmouth one above.This, I hope will help find his parents marriage.

This could be Elizabeth on the 1851 census at an aunt's house. The aunt is wife to a Master Mariner and Elizabeth is married and is down as Mariners Wife.

The address is Copperhouse, Phillack Cornwall.

Whippet Lady,
On opening the image of the Mar 1851 marriage above, the original says 9 281, but if I enter just the reference with no names, i get a different list, with no Thomas or Elizabeth.

I tried to enter a reference 9 287 for the same quarter to see if it was a mistranscription, and there is an Elizabeth White.Then I thought maybe Elizabeth Stephens had married White then Young, but there isn't a Stephens/White marriage.

I think I went on a bit of a wild goose chase!!
I tried to find Thomas Young around Redruth on the 1851 census bearing in mind he is born in Sussex,no luck.

Gotta do the ironing now, will check back later.

Thanks Mel, I did see that one, i'll have another look at it, and try and work out the Gregory link.

Edit: Thinking about it if the 1851 is right, Thomas was probably at sea.

Thats what I was getting at, him being at sea on the 1851 census. I have a lot of seamen on my tree and they are a devil to find!!

After reading the posts about an Elizabeth Young living in a house with a White as head I was wondering if her maiden name was White or perhaps her mother married again or uncle or brother in law. I did'nt find that census so don't know the details.

This 1841 could be right because I have followed through the census for Mary Gregory and in 1881 she is living with Henry Stephens b 1815 and his wife Jane, so she would also be aunt to Henry. Although, in 1881 Henry and Jane are listed as lodgers but I am going to follow through the other siblings on the 1841 census.

Now I have found a Thomas Young born Sussex lodging in Cornwall and next door is a John Stephens and Wife Elizabeth J. This Thomas is a Miller Stone Dresser single!!! Seems strange that we have the right names here but they are 61 and 65.
