Trying to find Thorne

I am trying to trace a branch of the Thorne family who were living in the Bideford area of Devon, certainly in the 1950s, if not before. Emily Jane Thorne, nee Cowdry, was born about 1872 in Sutton Veney, Wilts and died 1950. She had 4 children, Reg, b.1898, May b.1901, William and Leslie, born a little later. She married William Thorne,in 1895 in Paddington, London. William was from Ebbesborne Wake, Wilts and was the brother of my g. grandmother Eliza Jane. He was a policeman, and for some time the family were living in North London, (Wood Green?) before moving to Devon. I have now been able to trace Emily's parents, Alfred and Betsey Cowdry. Her father was a baker and grocer, in Sutton Veney. Any information about the family would be welcomed. I realise that several Thornes came from the Wiltshire area, and wonder if there is a link with any already listed. |
