yes I have him as a crate maker not gate maker, maybe its a spelling mistake with gate? does it say who the adams are?
Also on the original does it say 25? if his estimated birth is around 1852ish

so I think you were correct to start with in the searches.
I am so sure of it.

This family is a hard one, the story gets worse after 1901, ha ha. Thats why its taken me so long to get this far.

But, the good news is, the above are not my family,
I would say the Francis one is, as they shorten that name to fanny, her daughter even though not born fanny, its her middle name I think, goes by the name Fanny, she has a daughter named francis but calls her fanny and Lucy had a daughter named Francis and called her fanny.
So I think its a safe bet the family you fount william and francis are the correct ones, willing to bet money on that one, ha ha.

My Kirkham family is the Lucy one, her sister fanny was born about 1880. Once Lucy leaves home she never returns back home. Lucy's dad is defo named Joseph Kirkham who was a Crate Maker, it says this on her Marriage cert which I got today.
They were living in Newcastle area, which includes wolstanton. May Bank is on the outskirts of Newcastle, so 50/50 there.
Lucy never spoke of any family apart from Fanny she even named a daughter after her, As you can imagine as a child hearing this name I thought it was funny, thats why I remember her being spoken of.
Apart from that and the cert I dont have much else.
If its way to hard then I understand and I shall come back when I have more, I dont mind as you have given me loads to work on and thats fab.
