I'm trying to find any information on George Yates, father of GeorgeYates born c1861. George Yates junior married Mary Ellen Peacock 26/03/1883 at St. Philips Church Sheffield. I believed George Yates jnr to be born in Sheffield but have had no success. I did find BMD references for George in Sheffield, but neither has father George listed. From the marriage certificate that I have George's father is listed as George Yates, occupation cutler.
Can anyone help with any information?

Thanks for all this information, I had found the death on BMD, but was unsure if it was the right George. Having seen the rest of the information it certainly fits.
I had come across a George (junior) living with his mother, Emily (widower) in the 1881 census aged 19. His occupation was a carter, which actually fits with the 1901 census details that I have for my great grandfather, George (junior).
So this is why I had become confused, something certainly seems very strange.
