Yes Ancestry is well worth it - I use it pretty much everyday - not only for me but for helping others - and as a professional researcher.

Back in 2006 I won a years free access to the World Deluxe records and I found it so invaluble that I purchased the full annual subscription once my free year ran out!

Although saying that - it is playing up at the moment and wont show me images on the BMD stuff - not handy when you are trying to help someone!

I should also say that I have had a lot of help from the wonderful people on this site who have access to other records as well.
