My great grandfather's sister did exactly that. She was Margaret Ann at birth, census records and for the life of me I couldn't find her marriage. After many attempts, I finally found it under Ann Margaret.

It had never crossed my mind that she may not be using her first name when she got married and just assumed that I could not find her. I never even thought to look up just the surname and the year of birth.

I assumed 1901 had her born in Studley as she had just put where she was living at the time.

The marriage cert is correct as all the grooms details are right and i have traced him and his father, census info as well.

This is where the confusion starts. The Lizzie Parker marriage cert states that her father was John Parker a watchmaker, and that is who I thought I would try and trace with this thread.

The betsy Ann birth cert states father Job Parker a Farmer's labourer.

So you may have found the Betsy Ann from the birth cert but i am not certain that is Lizzie's Birth cert just one she got to get her pension early.

Not sure. The Lizzie Parker I found on BMD today was born in Aston 1867. But until I get the certi there is no way of knowing if it is the right Lizzie Parker.

The one you have found although she has the right father's name is now older and born in Coventry.

I really do not know.

Yes it could be as mother-in-law said that Lizzie had been in service.

I feel that I might have found her at last. Can I be cheeky and ask if you could check the 1871.

You are right I have been searching for a long time but cannot appear to track her down. I have litterally just this morning found a birth for a Lizzie Parker in Aston so am now following that route.

To sum up the other posting I have Lizzie Parker's marriage cert for 4 March 1889 to William Lancaster in Studley. hence how I know her father's name and occupation.

The confusion lay in the fact that my mother-in-law told me that she had her birth certificate. But the name, Betsy Ann, the date, 10.10.1864, and the father, Job Parker, were all wrong. I now think Lizzie obtained this to get her pension earlier than she was entitled to it.

I thought if I tried to trace the father on the marriage certificate, John Parker watchmaker. I might make some more headway.

Just to cross ref as a lot of info already posted

1867 which ties in with her being 22 when she married in 1889.

Please can someone look up John Parker a Watchmaker. I think he was in Aston, Birmingham and had a daughter called Lizzie.

If not Aston then maybe Coventry as they had a lot of watchmakers. I know his daughter got married in Studley, Warwickshire but have found a Lizzie Parker born in Aston.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
