so where is williams parents then in 1841

Don't know......can't see them in 1841. Maybe they died, and William went to live elsewhere.....perhaps with relatives?

i have found his mother was b oadby jane mann 1810 but cant find his dad thomas thornton

Looks like William's parents Jane & Thomas may have died before 1841
