Have you tried searching for both Annie Stewart and Annie Mills marriages? (i presume this was your grandfather's surname?) It may be that she registered under her previous surname

Here is a possible birth

Births Dec 1899
Forrest Beatrice Romford 4a 525

I would guess that this is the 1 year old from Essex in 1901

Looking at my 1901 decoder I see 24 Beatrice Forrests in 1901.
Only one is born in Essex (in Barking). She is 1 year old in 1901 so that would make her only 19 when married if she is the right one.

You need the marriage certificate to see if it has her age on it.

This is the code for the marriage of Beatrice and Samuel.

Marriages Sep 1919
Forrest Beatrice Turner Romford 4a 1456

You can buy the certificate by filling in the forms on http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificate/ and by using that code it should cost £7.

That will give you the fathers of Beatrice and Samuel.

Hilary Report 28 Apr 2008 09:10

Looked on Free bmd but too many to know which one could be her. Do you have a death cert. for her as that may give you some clues to search back for her.
Hilary.
