Karen - who registered your grandmother's death?

It's possible they got the date wrong.

The one I found is the closest to the dates you gave.

Karen - if you google GROIreland you will find the site where you can order birth, marriage and death certificates. They do not yet have an online ordering service.

You will find there is an online form to download and fill in and send off to the address given. Only cheques drawn on an Irish bank are accepted but you can pay by credit card.

Is TEAHAN your grandmother's maiden name?

I have found a POSSIBLE birth on the family search site, here is the link:

http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#birthYear=1914;surname=teahan;givenName=margaret;p=recordResults;searchType=standard

I have found out my Galvin side of the family where they were living in Ireland etc thanks to Janet as I looked up the 1911 census I wish I could find more on my Grandmother who was born in Ireland as we believe a orphan or out of wedlock her birth day is the 12/11/1914 & her name is Margaret Teahan but I cannot find anything so far so if you can help here it would be useful to be able to complete my tree.

Karen

The 1911 Census for Ireland is online and free; perhaps this would help you in your search.

Google will find it.

After Talking to my Dad he tells me that all of our family stayed in Ireland The only person to leave was my grandfather Patrick he left Ireland long before the war started & settled in Kilburn He Later met my Nan & they were both Married 1935-36 in Kilburn & had my father Jerrimiah & Nora My Grandad was a carpenter & Nan was a domestic/housemaid they were later called to serve in the army when war broke out.
Apparently we are also related to the Leary's who also Lived in Kilburn but I don't remember any of them. so it would be nice to know more on them to.
Danny my father's uncle stands out to as apparently he & his wife had many children although not knowing the exact amount but out of them all only 3 survived birth or infant death.
If you can help further with my trace I will be grateful
Thanks

I have some more info on my grandad (Patrick's) siblings

Danny Stayed in Ireland married Lilly May & had 2 children Bridget & Teddy.... Teddy got married young & Died we believe in his 20's he had severe learning difficulties & died Suddenly to a un diognosed condition he left behind his wife who I have no name of who inherited the house in the cork area Timmy is believed to have stayed in N ireland May went to America & had Helen & another child we believe Nora who I thought was Patricks sister is actually Timmy's Daughter & went to America.

All very confusing but I am hoping someone out there can help me further with all of this?

Karen Report 29 Jul 2008 02:44

Doris,

I don't believe this to be my Grandad as he was born in Ireland we believe maybe wrong as he met my nan in Kilburn area we believe he was born around 1907 born as Patrick Joseph Galvin had 4 siblings by the names of Danny, Timmy, May & Nora no dates of birth but Nora went to live in the USA & we believe danny did to. Patrick was a carpenter.

We also believe that either my nan or grandad came from Knockraha in Cork Ireland

Any more info would be fantastic

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 6 Jun 2008 10:01

This was the only death registration that I could find that might fit.
Name: Margaret Galvin
Birth Date: 12 Nov 1914
Death Registration Month/Year: May 2001
Age at death (estimated): 86
Registration district: Sheffield
Inferred County: Yorkshire
Register number: D62A
Entry Number: 209

If it isn't the one, you need to find the correct one and obtain a death certificate.
In 2001 that should show amongst other details, the place and date of birth and also Margaret's maiden name.

Hi,

I would like to know a bit more about my granparents on my dad's side, my nan's name was Margeret I don't know her maiden name she was born in Ireland I think near or in Cork about 1920 give or take 5-10yrs she came to london & married Patrick Galvin who was born 1900 give or take 5yrs they had 2 children Nora & Jerry Patrick died when I was about 2yrs old so in about 1972 aged about 69 I think & Margeret died in 2001 in her 80's both buried in Harrow.

I just want to know a bit about their background & where I ascended from really I was very fond of my nan sadly though I never really knew my grandad although I have heard he was a lovely kind man.

If you can help in any way I would really appreciate it.

Thank you in advance.
Karen
