Christina I think has it. Francis is a well used name in the family, and Rebecca was a wife of a Francis in the earliest I have. Francis born 1785 and wife Rebecca b1780

Rebecca married Hurton Ironmonger......that's his name, not occupation. He was a waggoner in 1861.

Thank you all very much. I looked at FS there were two Rebecca's, (one the wrong age). One was Rand which is where the family seemed to originate from.
The marriage Nicki found I thought might be too late as Rebecca as an unmarried mum was probably around twenty, so to marry in 1878 she would be about 48/50? in 1881 Mark is an Iron turner so that sort of fits with the ironmongers. I'll have a look again at what I have and how your ideas fit.

This is not going to be a reassuring reply, but my maiden name was Liversidge, can i suggest looking to to either Huddersfield, Almondbury in particular, and also Leeds, Burley possibly, but probably Hunslet. There were also Liversedges in York, Tadcaster and Selby area.
It is very possible that your Mark was a 'stray' and the enumerator wasn't familiar with the surname, hence the misspelling. However - be aware that there were other surnames that originated in other areas, and were similar.
If you want to PM me do - i've looked at the Liversidges/sedges for a long time, set off thinking they would be easy - they aren't!

I have just got a birth cert today for Mark Leversedge, born 1853 in Lincoln, and he isn't who I thought. But I would like to work out where he fits in, as it is such a rare name I think he must fit into the tree somewhere. I need to know if his mother is in any census, she was Rebecca Leversedge. No father on cert. St Swithins is the area of Lincoln I am needing to look. Mark is in 1881 census, married, so I need to look earlier please. Or if his mother married it could be Mark would be the name to search, with a different name for his parents. Thanks with anticipation
