Find Ancestors

i have had fantanstic help from people on this site and i know i'm probably repeating myself in my search but here goes.
i am looking for joseph thomson born in scotland his father is william. josephs marriage certificate says he was 30 when he got married on 25th july 1892. the 1901 census says he was living in liverpool and was 38.
doing a bit of math, i have narrowed his date of birth between january - july 1862. can anyone help me find my joseph.

yes this is him, he was a police officer in liverpool. i am trying to find out his date of birth and where he was born, but having no luck. the only info i have is his fathers name william and that they are from scotland.

It only gives Scotland for his place of birth.

There are 7 matches for a birth between 1861 and 1862 on Scotlands People. Do you have any idea where in Scotland he was born it could narrow down a search.

There is just 1 birth under the name of Joseph Thompson (with a p) between 1861 and 1862 on Scotlands People

don't know where hes from betty boo, 1901 census only says scotland.i have narrowed the search to his birth, jan - july 1862, don't know if that helps at all.
i have been searching for a long time to find the link between joseph and his father william. i have been contacting people who match the details i have been given in the past, on the family tree, but have had not luck so far.

Have you found his parents marriage in Scotland, that would at least tell you which area to look for Joseph's birth?

There is an IGI,baptism for 1861 birth 16th Sept ,,,St Nicholas Aberdeen,Joseph Thomson.
Parents,
William and Agnes Fernie,,,,,,
in Sept of 1892 he would almost be 31,,,,,,,,,

23rd Dec 1862,,Edin Parish,

These two births from IGI Family Search both have a father William as per the census someone mentioned earlier.
