Deb, would you believe there are 37 Ashworth/Butterworth marriages in Rochdale on BVRI?

I know there are alot of them as Ashworths and guess what I do have Butterworth's in my tree , my gt grandmother is Olive millicent Butterworth , how they like eachothers family ;-))

I did find a baptism on IGI for a Mary Butterworth around the right time Parents wre Samuel & Martha.
They are on the 1841 census. But I think anything found on IGI will be clutching at straws as there are 487 Butterworths on the 1841 census for Rochdale.

Debbie I've been looking on the Hugh Wallis batch numbers for a Butterworth/Ashworth marriage & according to that the IGI only have marriages for the years 1855-1862 & 1582-1801 St Chads for all of Rochdale.

I cant see a Butterworth/Ashworth marriage to fit , but Butterworth has to come into it somewhere for Robert then , maybe his mothers maiden ?

The actual image for 1851 doesn't actually have a Butterworth Ashworth on.
The image is for a John Butterworth Asworth who is 10 yrs old not 70.

The occupations for Robert & Mary both have something to do with the manufacture of material I think but I'm havind difficulty reading
Mary is a ??? spinner
Robert makes some kind of Loom.

I guess Mary was a Butterworth before marriage then ;-))
