Hi, Vera,

Don't worry about the crisis - it's a family tree one! One bit of the family seem to have decided to invent fathers and surnames when the girls married as their mother never married! (Not sure if that made sense!). Makes it very difficult to track them.

On a day when you're bored, ask me and I'll try to explain and see if you can make sense of it!

Hi Liz,
No problem.....hope all is well with the crisis.

You are not going to believe I never even looked on the Wales Census.

Thanks, Vera - she's a challenge, I think!

Sorry I didn't reply before, only just got round to Genes after having an even worse crisis with another member of the family!

That 1881 looks promising - the best I could find for 1891 was in Wales - but then the name does sound Welsh.

No idea of names for mother or siblings.

Liz

Liz Report 25 Aug 2008 15:27

Her father's name was William Henry Evans, and he was a contractor, I think.

Hi Liz,
What was Elizabeths fathers name and his occupation?

21 Stewart Road - but if it had given the number on the marriage cert as well as the road it would have helped!

So now I have to try to trace Elizabeth Evans back from there!

Thanks for your help - have now finally found her. It hadn't occurred to me that she was born in Scotland but that looks to be the case.

The 1901 census was taken on 31st March...........

The person/people concerned could have been living somewhere else at the time

Why not post the full details from the marriage cert and see if they can be found

Liz

Liz Report 25 Aug 2008 14:36

Yes, I know I have to search by name - but when I couldn't find the correct name, I thought the sensible thing to do was to try to find the street to see if it had been transcribed completely wrongly.

And yes, I have looked at the ED descriptions, and found almost all the surrounding streets - but not the correct one.

Ericthered

Ericthered Report 25 Aug 2008 14:29

Because you have to search by name............only 1881 is searched by address on Ancestry

Have you tried looking at the ED descriptions?

Liz

Liz Report 25 Aug 2008 14:26

Can anyone explain why I can't find it on Ancestry?

Ericthered

Ericthered Report 25 Aug 2008 14:15

Just put in 'Stewart'..........and Oswestry

Liz

Liz Report 25 Aug 2008 14:13

Is it?
I got "No results found"
Help! (Please)

Sorry - just looked again and got it.

Ericthered

Ericthered Report 25 Aug 2008 14:10

Can anybody find this road in the 1901 census because I can't!
I know it existed because I've got it as an address on a marriage cert for someone who married in May 1901.
