Who is William to you? You should be moving backwards through his marriage to get his fathers name and occupation and then backwards again to find his birth with his mothers maiden name.

william was my great grand father, he married isabella johnson my great grandmother 1902 lancaster, he was born norfolk 1874, i was told he went to canada and came back home about 1908, i,m looking for a ship list with him on.

so william was,nt born in norfolk, only his father,alysham rings a bell, thankyou so so much you have been very helpful and thanks again for not given up, as i nearly did, been searching on family search, without any luck but now i know why.
