Hello everyone,

I had posted a request some years ago on this but unfortunately no feedback at that time. Can I please ask again. I have been trying to find information on James HAYES from County of Carlow (Bagnelstown) Ireland born c.1844 who married Catherine Curren. I am assuming they married in Carlow about 1865 based on their first born child.

James, Catherine and children Mary b.1865, John b.1867, Joseph b.1866, Martin b.1870 (all born in Ireland) all went to NZ from London MV Eutrepre in 1874 (except Martin, he must have died in Ireland).

If you are able to help me with information regarding their life in Carlow Ireland I would truly appreciate it. If there are any Census for this family.

James' parents were John Hayes and Mary Hayes (can't find her maiden name) from County of Carlow who probably married around the 1840's.
(can't recall where I got this info from)

This is all the info I have on this family.

Hope to hear from you, thanking you very much.

Regards Kaye

Hello,

Anne from Scotland thread kindly searched and come up with the below information for me, as had INis some many months ago, I was hopeful there may have been information on the parents. Sadly I have come to a dead end on this research especially regarding the parents time in Carlow.

If anyone has any other ideas or advice I would be very grateful.

Thank you
Kaye

nudge, (its a shame when I see deleted posts, leaves you wondering what happened, probably because I get quite excited that kind people may have posted something very useful or I suppose they may have decided the information was wrong)

Appreciate any advice with Irish records for the County of Carlow and/or the Hayes family in question.

Thanking you.

Kindest regards Kaye

Hi, its now 2011, I haven't been able to find any more details of James and Catherine's life in Bagnelstown, Carlow, Ireland since my first posting in 2008. Hoping someone may know of sites that may now contain this info. Today, again I looked on familysearch but there wasn't a match.

Hope you can help or advise me best thing to do. (Ann back in 2008 couldn't find anything then).

Many thanks Kaye

The 1901 and 1911 census returns are now available at

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

if they were still alive then.

Have you also tried the Irish Family History Foundation website?

The GRO(I) index thru 1958 (excl N. Ireland post-partition) is available at:
https://www.familysearch.org/s/collection/list#page=1&
region=EUROPE

One can purchase certs (or cheaper still, the uncertified images of the rego) via:
http://www.groireland.ie/

The Irish 1901/1911 censuses are all that survived pre-1926. There are fragments of the earlier ones, but I think the majority of these are in the pension records where people were trying to establish 70+ yo eligibility for the OAP first paid 1/1/1909.
