If Jane Moore is Jane Seniors maiden name this would be very strange, was kinda hoping that Jane elder would be a Jane Britton which would fit in with the Britton/Brittains ....however Mabel Oxley (younger Janes youngest daughter) gave her son (my Uncle) The middle name Moore hmmm.

Have found out via census Jane elder in 1881 and 1871 she lived alone as head of house with her children Jane E B and Ralph Britton stanley. But when I looked at Ralphs 1901 census he had his wife daughter and father living with him.

Question where was father Jospeh Stanley during these intervening years.
Were the census very literal only those on that day /night listed. Or would the absent , those on night shifts at sea etc counted in thier absence ..sorry if this is a stupid question , just trying to make sense of it all . I seem to have a strong female lline but a lot of missing fellas lol
