Find Ancestors

Okay, i am a little confused. Over the last few days i have been looking into the Orchover line of my family, (my mothers maiden name)
Now it is a very uncommon name and when i do a search for it the only orchovers that come up are those who are in my family.
My great grandfather Henry Orchover came over with his wife and 1 child to the uk around 1904, in 1906 my grandfather was born, they had three other children after him. (last one born around 1913)
I have found a record on ancestry for a 'Lily Sudic' born 1924, mothers maiden name 'Orchover' now as this is a very uncommon name there is a chance that she is some relation. If her mothers maiden name was 'orchover' then does this mean that her mother would have been a sister of Henry Orchover?!
None of the older generations of orchovers are alive any more so this is a difficult one to some up. its just, as i said this was a very unusual name...is there anyway of finding out?
Can someone please advice me on this...i have checked the original image and the name is def. Orchover, it hasn't been interpreted wrong or anything!

well the birth cert will give both parents names so you can then see where the mum fitted in with your family.
Have you looked for a marriage between Sudic and a female Orchover?

thanks wow this is so confusing...Hetty Orchower (my great aunt) Surname is Orchover but spelt wrong, the others are nothing to do with the family.
So Syliva and Lily have a mother with the maiden name Orchover. But we was under the impression that it was Henry who brought the name over. So he must have had a sister!!!
When i have their mothers name i don't know what i am going to do with it though...how will i know whether or not this fits in with my family?

The only way is to buy one of the birth certs - which will give you both parents' names and then see if you can find their marriage - the details on her father should match the details on Henry's marriage cert.

I wouldn't dismiss the Orchower children just yet - just in case ...

I don't have a birth cert for henry...he wasn't born in this country and i don't even think he married in this country either!

Oh that's a nuisance Hester. I don't understand how German BMDs work but I'm sure someone on here will be able to help.

Just thinking that if Rachel is Henry's sister then Rachel's marriage cert will at least give you their dad's name - that'd be a start!

Orchover isn't german....they came from the Ukraine,
Rachel was My grand fathers sister not Henrys sister, she was henrys daughter...it all makes sense now!
