Hi wayne /tracey, thanks for the advice, i have been going round in circles looking at these bl..... d'y census's, so here's another question for you , if it is ann going to america how can i find out what happened to her once she arrived ? jean

Jean all we'll say is...and i think GB will agree, take what you see on the census with a good dose of salt.

Parents tended to tell a few porkies when it came to where their children were born... and even themselves sometimes!! They want to socially 'fit in' to the new area they are living in... so they say the children were born at a village close by... sometimes adults on later census's get a little confused and state they were born at the place they are living !!!

When you get to the earlier census's knowledge and understanding is very thin on the ground, and you end up with all sorts of mush!!

Take your time, always go with what you actually know for sure...and the best bit of advice is, if your stuck ask !!!

Tracey :-)

Hey hunny,

I think they'd have been married off.... it is possible they either migrated back to Ireland or they shipped to USA?

Hmmm...gonna go check passenger lists.

I got those too GB,

I think they said they were from Scotland but i cannot find them on the 1851 so i wonder if the girls were born in Ireland and travelled over between 1847 and 1861?

Tracey

Jean

Does the census indicate they were born in Scotland or Ireland?

By 1871 they would either be married or in service.... have you tried to find a marriage on the BMD?
