Find Ancestors

My Grandfather was called Alfred Christie Pearson and was born in Sunderland in 1910. My Great Grandfather was also called Alfred C Pearson and married Mary J Hope in 1903. I believe his father was John Pearson who was born in 1849 but I am having problems in putting together the information. I was wondering if anyone has any information regarding the family?

I have a notice of the marriage from www.sunderland.gov.uk - not the actual certificate. I think that Mary J Hope don't actually know anything about Mary Hope as I think she died quite early in my Grandfathers life.

I am researching the family of Thomas PEARSON b. 1817, Northallerton, Yorkshire. He came out to New Zealand abt. 1860 and was followed by his wife Mary Jane b. Dec. 1824, Sunderland and their 2 children, William Christie PEARSON b. 1853, Sunderland, UK and Ann Christie PEARSON b. 1856, Sunderland, UK.
Mary Jane PEARSON and the children are found on the passenger list of the ship 'Mystery', departing from London and arriving to Lyttelton in Jan. 1862.
This is all the New Zealand information I've been able to collect on this family. Did they survive their venture while in NZ or did they return to the UK?

Any connections or suggestions would be appreciated.
