Find Ancestors

Update:

I believe I have now found William's parents Joseph Youell b.1780 and Sarah Easter b.1770. This would mean that William was actually born in 1807, all other info I have found fits with this familes movements.

I have also been lucky enough to find a photo of his parents graves through the gravestone photo project.

I have found his siblings and am in the process of following their families.

hartlepool945. I am afraid I do not think this is a match as my William moved on to Leicestershire, then ended his days in London, but thank you for taking the time to reply.

Margaret: Thank you I need to check my notes, as I have discounted a family in Great Yarmouth, through the census. I need to double check this info, to see if this corresponds to your information. William give his birthplace as Haddon, which I think is more inland, but of course Great Yarmouth could be the local district.

I have another Norfolk Youell of the relevant era, but doubtless no help -
WILLIAM Youell b. Caister 1795 married Sarah Purdy 1825 in Caister - certainly had children William Thomas and Mary Ann.
Haven't followed censuses totally and accurately, but family seems to have moved up east coast (via Brotton) to Hartlepool.
William was a coastguard and probably died Brotton 1856.

May have another look tomorrow if I get time.

I think it also depends on the transcriber too, one of my g.grandmothers sisters was eventually found in 1901 census as Yonell.

I too have found a site relating to Youell, and derivitives, but again the family in question do not appear to feature

suppose it all depends on the literacy and hearing of the ennumerator who called round the houses to make these records

dread to think what today's youngsters would make of it all with text speak!!!!

Long shot but I have a distant relative that was a YOUDALE and appeared as different spellings.
There is a YOUDALE site on the net with searchable records.

Yes Ann in later years I found them as Yowell too.
Interestingly igi have a William Yuoel marrying an Elizabeth Hall on 6th July 1831(I think correct date...from memory) and a William Youell marrying Eliza Hall on 13th July 1831, I think the earlier date must have been banns

Thank you for all that. The only actual match is George Youell with children born in Camberwell and Maidenhead area. I have actually found all the family in various census, inclusive of Canadian and US and have their birth details etc.
It is William and Elizas era that is eluding me, ie Williams birth/parentage etc. I have not been able to find on igi...the William Youell born in Great Yarmouth, in this era is not a match.
