I presume you have the 1891. In 1881 Bridget is head of house but married so Martin must be elsewhere but not showing up.

There is Patrick Dempsey wid age 72 in the household, her father in law.

Bridget must have died between 1891/1901 as they are both on the 1891.

Yes, that looks like them XX..

This is what I have:
Father Martin Dempsey born 1839 Ireland
Mother Bridget born 1839 Ireland
children from 1860-1864 born in Gateshead, County Durham.

I also have a Son Martin, born 1854 in Ireland, I have not got access to Ancestry but a contact on my tree says he is not on the 1861 census with them, but he got married in County Durham in 1883 to Margaret Tucker born in Gateshead.

I guess it is possible that when his parents came to England he may have stayed in Ireland with family for a while but then where did he go prior to his marriage in 1883.
