I am still trying to find the John family from Morriston area Swansea. I have some information but now I have now hit a blank wall.
Information I have so far is:
Thomas John married a Rachel Woolcock (I believe to be my gt gt grandparents) Thomas John who married a Sarah John (my gt grandparents) Their children John John Married a Bronwen Watts. Rees John. Thomas Richard John married a Bessie Mort. Mary Ann John married a Frederick Pope (my grandparents). Samuel John who I knew lived by the Duke Pub in Moriston. Rachel Ann John married a ?Mort Joshia John who I think lived in Birchgrove Swasea.
When my gt grandfather died I believe Sarah married a ? Davies. their children I believe were: Maud, Blodwen, Muriel, Emlyn and Garfield. That is as far as I can get.
Cannot get any info on the Davies' at all. Is there anyone out there that can help?
Many thanks again
Elaine

Hi Vivienne
Thomas John born about 1835 his place of birth was Graig Morriston. Place of baptism Llangyfelach.
I know my grandmother Mary was born in Morriston and lived at 13 Mill terrace Morriston.
When she married her address was Hawthorn Cottage Caemawr Morriston, and her husands address was 14 Trehearne Rd Morriston. She died in March 1970 and was burried at st. Johns church clydach. Frederick died in March 1928 when he was killed in an accident at the Mond nickel Works Clydach.
Unfortunately that is all I know.
Thank you for you help

So vivienne issued a general invitation to play!
There were five possible Sarah John + Davies marriages in Swansea district 1901-1910. Probably the sooner the likelier, as she is 33 in 1901 and wants to keep having children.
Trick for FreeBMD: make the known person the "spouse" and the unknown person the one you're searching for. That way you can see part of your answer without having to keep clicking on pages to see lists.
I forgot to do that, so I just did, and I see we can rule out one possible marriage because the Davies on the page was a woman. Unfortunatley, that still leaves four: Henry, William, Lewis and Daniel.
Okay, just to clarify, Sarah was a John before marriage? So this was them?
Marriages Jun 1885 John Sarah Ann Swansea 11a 937 John Thomas Swansea 11a 937
For looking for kids born after 1911 by both parents' surnames. Which I shall now do, although it's unlikely maybe.

Right, how many Garfield Davies-s could there have been??
Ouch, a dozen or so 1901-1915.
Not a one in Glamorgan district, and not a one after 1911 with mother John.
I'll bet you've done all this already, Elaine.
Maybe what we need to know is where those Davies names came from, and why you think they are Sarah's kids.

These are the two most possible possible marriages, if we are assuming Swansea district.
Marriages Dec 1903 Collins Arthur John Swansea 11a 1647 Davies William Swansea 11a 1647 >> John Sarah Ann Swansea 11a 1647 Lewis Margaret Jane Swansea 11a 1647
Marriages Dec 1903 Collins Arthur John Swansea 11a 1647 Davies William Swansea 11a 1647 John Sarah Ann Swansea 11a 1647 Lewis Margaret Jane Swansea 11a 1647
The other marriages are 1908 and 1910, by which time Sarah really would have been a little old to be having five more children.
I think you need to get those certificates and hope that one of the Sarah Ann-s (lamentably, you Sarah was a Sarah Ann) didn't marry the Davies in the list, and one did. It would be a start, anyway.

Searching trees at GR for Garfield Davies born 1901-1916, there are 4 to 6 results. (One may have her date wrong, and I don't know the geography well enough to know whether a couple are the same.)
You might try contacting them!
Someone has Sarah John born 1866 Morriston in his tree. Are you in contact?

What, what?
The censuses say that where they are living is:
Registration district: Swansea
I have to head off. I'm sure you'll have it solved when I wake up!

suggestion
the 1911 census is due out this month i believe and then you should be able to find, sarah john/davies, and children for sure providing of course that they release the area that you are after, pay per view but will cost about the same as a couple of certificates I think and it holds a bit more info on it than the 1901 good luck vivienne
