Find Ancestors

With the help of people on here i have managed to find out loads....but im now stuck...noone could find any marriages for my mums biological sisters...could this be as they were married in Scotland?
Margarot Hassell Married a Jakie (said Jackie so unsure how its spelt) Benson in scotland. Margarot was born 1951.
And was last known living in catterick barrack in north Yorkshire....how would i find more info out about them?
also Anita Hassell married a Duncan Wright in scotland and the last known address is in Loanhead midlothian....
I dont know the years for either of the marriages....

Checked Scotlandspeople index for the marriages you are searching for.

There is no sign of either of them.

The problem might be with the spelling of the name HASSELL,

Might there be an alternative spelling you know of ?

I have an address given to me by the girls aunty,...which was 22 st johns road Hipswell catterick barrack north yorkshire ....but when i go to the electrol rolls i can find a Margarot Benson living with a John Benson not Jakie....but the Spelling Hassell is defenitly right.
Also Margarot was the name i was given on the birth cert off here....but listed as living there it is spelt Margaret......

Had another look at the marriage index on Scotlandspeople and there are definitely no marriages listed for the people you mention.

:-( No i dont know for def as i have no evidence...but noone on here could find marraiges for either of them at all....i found a aunty gave her a call and she told me that their mum married a Scottish man (hugh degnan) and they all moved to scotland together and have been there ever since.....and she informed me of who they married and that it was scotland and they obv married somewhere if a Margaret benson and a John Benson are registered at the exact address she gave me....but....that is army barracks so could it be that maybe he was posted abroad and they married abroad?? could this be a possibility.....

Tried the variations on the name Hassell......nothing came up.

Tried Duncan Wright and Anita (no surname)......again no record.

Could Anita be short for another name.

That address you gave me sheila is the one the aunt gave me so must be right :-)
Its confusing about the marriages though......
I dont know if Anita could be short for anything else...the birth was found on here for me Anita A Hassell mmn Caseley born 1949...

I know checked the names checked from our previous e.mails, but I am just wondering if the girls went abroad to marry (quite common nowadays, or if they are army marriages ).

It's just dawned on me....the marriages on Scotlandspeople have a cut-off date of 1933 !

Obviously, the folk you're looking for were married long after that.

The only way you can find their marriage information is by going to the General Register Office in Edinburgh where you can view certificates up to the present day.

Glasgow has a similar service.

Im sorry to of wasted peoples time, Margarots marriage probably was a army marriage as they lived on the army baracks for as long as the aunt knew and can remember....how would i find out about army marriages or cant you?
And yes i thought that too....maybe that he was posted abroad so married abroad....

Yey :-) No its okay Helen thats brilliant.....as that would fit,... as they didnt go to Scotland until 1967 so if they cut of in 1933 this would of been after this...i may see if they will help me buy calling up as i am quite far away from from scotland down here....but thanks soooo much :-)
