If they emigrated before 1911, you should be able to find them in the 1911 Canadian census.

It can be searched *free of charge* at

So you have a full name for him?

I searched at FreeBMD for Edward White born 1888-1892 in Romford district, and didn't find one. (There are births in West Ham - ?)

I was wondering whether he might have served in the Canadian military in WWI. That database can be searched here:

http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/cef/001042-100.01-e.php

A full name would help to narrow the search.

automatedgenealogy can be a little confusing -- you have to pick a province to search, search for the surname, then narrow the search by given name and DOB.

Here they are:

White Edward M Head M Jan 1890 21
White Rose F Wife M Jul 1887 23
White Edward M Son S Sep 1910 1
White Selina F Boarder W Oct 1868 42

They are in Brantford, Ontario. So at the link I gave you, click on Ontario, then search for White, then narrow it to Edward born 1890.

Click on the page number by his name in the results.

Then click on "split view", and you will see the original census page as a PDF that you can enlarge to see more details. They are at the very top of the page.

After that -- unfortunately, birth registration info is not available for Ontario (and other Canadian provinces, more or less) after 1909, so you won't be able to find other births.

I don't have paid access to Canadian records at Ancestry, but you can search there without paying, you just can't see details.

http://content.ancestry.ca/iexec/?htx=List&dbid=7921
"Ontario, Canada Marriages, 1857-1924"

I searched for Edward White married Rose, 1909-1911, and this seems to be him:

Edward Sears White
Rose
and hovering the mouse over his name produces one more piece of info:
place of marriage Brant county

Transcriptions of Canadian records at Ancestry are atrocious -- if you think the English censuses are bad, you ain't seen them. I suspect that "Sears" was really "Lear" -- his mother's surname --?

If you edit your subject line to, say,

Edward White born c. 1890 - Canada after 1911

someone with access to Canadian records may be more likely to see your post and give you more details.

Unfortunately, none of his children would have married by 1924, so it won't be possible to find such marriages.

Evie Thank you so much for your help with this. I will look at the Canadian links you have given. Edward's father David was deceased in Brantford ,Ontario,Canada so your information links into this area. As I believed Selina White (nee Lear) was Edwards stepmother (his own mother being deceased in UK Dec 1/4 1891) it made me wonder why his middle name would be Lear unless she was his real mother.! Its all very confusing and I will have to obtain a birth certificate for him to clarify this.
Once again thanks for you help.

You're welcome! -- and do consider editing your subject line to indicate "Canada", because you really might get more help that way from someone with access to Canadian records!
