Find Ancestors

I have found John Curly, 10, in the 1901 census living with James R, 72 and Emma, 73, both also Curly. They were living at 32 Bessborough Place, St Margaret and St John, The Evangelist, Westminster, London.
I have searched the BMDs from 1890 to 1900 and still cannot find him or the other two named Curly's.
Would someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Any help in this matter would be gratefully appreciated.

I have found it on GR - transcribed as Curly. I think it looks more like Cully, as in the Ancestry transcription, found by Richard.

This is james in 1891, so the surname appears to be CULLY.

I know his dad was Charles CURLY but other than that we have no info.

My Grandad was John Curly. I'm not sure how I'm going to find out whether the info you've given me is that of my family, but I have no idea how I can confirm who he is.
We know from his Marriage cert in 1924 that his dad was Charles Curly. However, I have no idea where he originates from, or where Charles was from.
We thought John was born in 1897 and I know his birthday is 06/10. However, I wondered if the 1891 of this John could be a typo.?!?
Any tips would be appreciated.

Again, thank you all for your help in this. . . The details have from the Marriage cert of John Curly to Annie Pettit are:
John Curly age 26 years Bachelor, General Labourer living at 32 Carlton Row, Brighton. Father's Name, Charles Curly (deceased) River Lighterman.
Annie Pettit, 27, spinster living at 32 Carlton Row, Brighton. Father's name Frederick Martin Pettit, General Labourer. We have traced Annie and her family.
The marriage took place in Brighton at the Register Office on 09/08/1924.

So, his birth was 1897/8. River Lighterman suggests the Thames and London.

Only two John Curley births in London for 1897/8:

The one born Chelsea is on the 1901, with a father Hugh, a supernumary postman (whatever that is!)

Sorry, Amanda, I can't find John with his father anywhere. There are two John Curleys coming up in the 1911 born London, but neither are living with a Charles. There is nothing at all coming up for Curly.

How about this one??

The image is over 2 pages - perhaps someone else would take a look and see what they make of the surname - it's transcribed as Croly but it looks more like Curly to me......and father Charles is a Dock Labourer.

Gosh. . . you're all fab. This one appears to be a toughy! The witnesses named on the marriage cert are Frederick Martin Pettit, Annie's dad and Florence Walker.
I don't have any family who know any further info I'm afraid. . .
