I'm also looking for Elizabeth Martin born about 1851 in St Germans, Cornwall, to father William Martin. Her father's name was from her marriage certificate when she married George Hoxey in 1870.

So I was wondering if someone could look up the 1861 census and possibly the 1851 for Elizabeth and her family. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for trying Vera.
I just noticed on the marriage certificate that Elizabeth MArtin was residing at 35 Henry Street. I have no idea which city, but could be , Woolwich, Kent as they were married in Woolwich, Kent in 1870. Elizabeth is also listed as a minor. Is a minor under 18?

Belinda,
I am wondering now that June has found he states he was born in Ireland, if someone else on GR can help with the Irish connection.....although not knowing exactly where he comes from in Ireland, I am not sure if they can help. Worth a try though.

Good Luck

Hi Vera

I'm sorry, I already have the information for George Hoxey's side from a family member (George was born in Longford, Ireland to Robert Hoxey). It is just the Elizabeth Martin side that is eluding me at the moment. Thanks so much for your help - even though you couldn't find anything for Elizabeth's family. It is much appreciated.

Kind regards
Belinda :-)

Hi June

The witnesses are H Bush and Mary Ann Bush. I'm not sure at all how they are related or if they are related. George Hoxey was a gunner in the royal artillery and was living at artillery barracks at Woolwich at the time of the marriage in 1870.

I guess Mary Ann Bush could have been Mary Ann Martin - a sister to Elizabeth. It is a long shot, but worth pursuing I guess. Thanks for the suggestion and I hope you can find something for me.

Kind regards
Belinda

Thanks June

Looks like Mary Ann could have been a friend or something from the same town. Or maybe a cousin? Probably not a sister if her last name is different.

Thanks June for this - I guess it could lead somewhere, especially if Mary Ann is Elizabeth's cousin. We might be able to track down Elizabeth's family through Mary Ann.

Kind regards
Belinda

Maybe Mary Ann's last name was spelt wrong on the earlier census records. Could it be Acker or something like that with the "H" dropped off? Just a thought.
