my grandmother julia was born mourne abbey looking for her parents.

Where is Mourne Abbey have you got the date of your Grandmothers birth of any certs.

my grandmother was born 19 october 1899

just to make it even more differcult we were told her birth name was Julia but on both her marriage certs she is shown as lucy.

she was born in Mallow and baptised in Mourne abbey from family info.

she married Thomas Hannon in 6 sept 1918 in nottingham then widowed
remarried Stanley Jessup in barking in 1930.

I imagine she became "Lucy" as there were 2 other Julia's in the household ..her G.Mother and her Aunt....(not unusual for another Christian name to be used in these circumstances)

Words almost fail me i cannot believe you have given me so much info.
you are so kind.I just did not know where to go.
we were told nanny lucy came to liverpool in 1904 and was abandoned with her little brother Tom while her mother Helena emigrated to usa with her older brothers(they were old enough to work).

Paula...It had crossed my mind about emigration when I couldn't find the rest of the Julia/Lucy's family but many families went to (mainly US) leaving younger children with g.parents or other family with the idea of sending for them later...
It may be possible to find Helena on some passenger list...
