My grandfather (my namesake) was born between 1871 and 1874 and married Robina Anderson(Beanie) in 1912. I have this marriage certificate. He was a widower with connections to Ireland-a son and daughter from his first marriage. My grandparents lived in Liverpool and my mother Jessica Robina was born in 1914 and died last year. There were relatives in Kent-I think on my grandfather's side. Have just now found him on 1911 census, still married to his first wife Winifred. It says he was born in Liverpool, so am gradually finding out more. He entered himself as W. George Ashley on census. His age was 40 and Winifred's 28 on 1911 census, but think he was a bit younger. Married for 3 years. He was a dock labourer.
