Thanks so much ...but I,ve put this up before and people have been great so the only thing left to do is relook at the records in case as someone has said he was entered wrong

Thomas Gordon Wolstencroft married Fed 1909 dead!! by 1911 census ...

His wife and his parents declare him dead! ..but we do know it might be wrong ,,...so the entry spelling could be wrong

Kay???? Report 19 Apr 2009 22:47

Depends what his job was,,,,if he died at sea or drowned and no body was recovered then without no formal ID.his death couldnt be registered back then,.....perhaps he just left the family home ?

KempinaPartyhat Report 19 Apr 2009 22:51

Jean what records did you search to get that info?

KempinaPartyhat Report 19 Apr 2009 22:54

ozi ..........I have pm Jean as I do have the certificate for this marriage .

but I couldnt understand that either .......some thing about the colour strips that BMD use .....

Ozibird

Ozibird Report 19 Apr 2009 23:05

Freebmd uses colour strips, not the original material. In 1909 the indexes don't cross reference so unless you have the cert (as you do) there's no way of knowing from the entry.

Why are you going to Islington? Don't you have to go to the national Archives at Kew?

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 19 Apr 2009 23:16

to see if they have misfiled his death ??? is it worth it ??

Surely you can search the images on Ancestry just as easily?

This is the man that I've always thought was still alive in 1911. Well I wonder if this is him
