Find Ancestors

Would be grateful for some help. I have been trying to find out more about my husband's grandfather John Henry Shaw and particularly about his siblings. Have found: Phoebe Shaw b about 1865 in Arnold Notts, Anne or Annie b about 1867 Gunthorpe Notts, Hannah about 1870 Gunthorpe, Arthur 1872 Lowdham Notts, Elizabeth about 1874 Gunthorpe, and Emily 28.7.1876 Burton Lazars.
I know that Ann(i)e had a son out of wedlock, Frank, on 3.10.1885 but haven't been able to find any trace of her after that or between 1871 and 1885. Hannah married John Fant and the 1901 census has them living at Whissendine in Rutland. They don't seem to have had any children. I know that Emily married D Attewell in 1897. In 1891 Arthur was a blacksmiths apprentice in Somerby, Melton Mowbray. Can't find him after that. No trace at all after the 1871/1881 census of Phoebe or Elizabeth. I'd love to know more about any of their descendants, particularly if any had 2 or 3 sons born approximately between 1889 and 1897. And what happened to Frank Henry Shaw? The 1911 census has a John and Hannah Fant living in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.

They have a William Fant living with them who could be John's brother (he's 3 years younger than John), and also a John William Fant age 8 years who could be a son.

Without seeing the image I can't see the relationships or where they are born.

Yes I am still here! Very grateful for all your help - I hadn't been able to find Phoebe at all after 1871 - you are definitely miracle-workers.
On the marriage certificate it looks like John FAUT but I couldn't find anything else under that name, found John FANT and Hannah in the 1901 census and have found John Fant in 1891 too living with his parents.
The reason I asked re descendants of John Henry Shaw's siblings is that we have a photo of J H Shaw with his wife and 2 daughters and another couple with 3 boys/young men. At a guess the photo might be about 1911 and the boys are aged, by appearance, between about 14 and early 20s. The unnamed couple appear in another later photo as 'uncle and auntie' (no names). We are trying to find out who they are - of course they may be related to J H Shaw's wife, Mary-Anne Lister, but we thought we'd try the Shaws first. The man looks a lot like John Henry and we are wondering if he might be Arthur Shaw, but I can't find him after the 1891 census. Best wishes. Nicky

The 1901 info re Phoebe was very interesting as the location ties in with the possible location of the photo; however unfortunately her 3 sons' ages just don't fit with those of the boy and young men in the photo and the man is too young to be William Dennett. (Do you know where they were in 1911 please?). Thanks again very much for your help. I'm going off line for tonight but will check again tomorrow.

In the 1911 census Phoebe and William Dennett were in Glanford Brigg, Lincolnshire, with Wilfred Arthur aged 16, Ernest aged 13 and Frank Leonard aged 11.

1911 census: Phoebe and William Dennett : Please, is there any more information about the address in Glanford Brigg Lincs - I gather this is an old administrative district of Lincolnshire rather than a town or village. Any mention of Fockerby, Garthorpe or Amcotts? Nicky

You would have to buy credits for the 1911 census to get any more information about the address. I'm afraid I don't have any - I managed to get the names of all the Dennetts in a round about way just using the free search option, so the information I gave you was all there was.

Kath and Sharon and others - Many thanks. I have sent off for William Dennett's death certificate, which I hope may have a more detailed address on it. We are going to visit the area soon and would like to try to find the house - or where it used to be if it is no more. On some photos we have it just says 'Fockerby' which is a village in what used to be called Glanford Brigg and is now North Lincolnshire.
