'n' means 'nudge' ... to move a thread back to the top of the board ...

perhaps you have started a new thread about this person ... ?

Flick might have explained

... in any event you probably meant to thank FannyByGaslight for the information she put in your thread ... the only place to 'look up' the birth is at scotlandspeople and the only way to do that is to pay for credits

I happened to have the 'statutory births 1855-2009' at that site open since I was doing another search ( I have no active credits at the moment )

there were 5 matches for forename john surname begins with nesbit between 1910 and 1920 ... it would cost 1 credit to see the list

without some more information about the person ... where born, who the parents were ... I don't know how you would decide which one to look at or which one it was

if you read the post at the top of the board about how to use the board, you can get an idea of what other information could be useful for your request ... for instance, if you know who this person married, you can consult his marriage certificate ( although it is too recent to consult on line, you have to order it, and the same for the birth certificate ) to get his parents' names and his age etc.

Always start with what you know, for instance his death or marriage, and work backwards.

yes you have started another thread about the same family

http://www.genesreunited.co.za/boards.page/board/ancestors/thread/1273288

but the only reply you have given anyone who has posted in your threads is this question about Flick's "nnn"

to find your threads, click on 'my threads' on the left side, and then you can reply to the people who have kindly found information for you

Yes, I agree, I should have explained that Karen had posted another thread, and my reason for nudging was to show that.....plus the fact that she had not acknowledged FBG's helpful advice......however, I was a bit pushed for time.
