Find Ancestors

I have put this on tips board and it was suggested that if i re posted someone may be able to look up the infomation im looking for. I would be very grateful for any help Thankyou.
I trying to help a lovely young lady who is planning to get married next year She would love to marry the same day as her Gran parents who are now sadly gone.She knows very little about them Gran was born about 1926 Maragaret Balfour Grandad James McGibbon they were married in Aylth Perthshire Scotland first child was born 1952.Thats all she knows Any suggestions where i can look for their marraige cert?

While marriages are searchable at ScotlandsPeople only to 1933, deaths are searchable to 2006.

Do you know when Margaret and/or James died?

If you can find their death records, they should contain information like parents' names.

hi i have looked for death cert n child birth certificates for you on scotlands people, however due to the year of these , i am unable to view the extract - can only be viewed if you were to purchase the extract -it costs £10.00, the childs birth certificate will show parents names and a date of marriage will also show ( it does on all of mine).

If you are in Scotland you could go to your local register office they will search for you ....At mine this costs £10 for one hour in this time they will search as many records as they can.

Someone has answered you with information about the marriage, it's on your duplicate thread over on Tips Board.
You might like to consider deleting one of your threads, otherwise people could be doubling up, unknowingly, with the same information.

Just a little additional ......if you check the birth of the person whose parents' marriage you are looking for....it will say on the Scottish cert of birth when and where the parents were married.

I had also pointed out in the other thread some time ago that it was a duplicate, to save people duplicating effort, and asked that Maria delete it.

The person who posted in that thread ignored the info I gave. Of course, if Maria had done as requested and deleted the duplicate, the problem would not have arisen.

I asked by private message that Thomas, in this thread, who has access to records, do a search for Maria.

I would be very unhappy if I set Thomas a task on Maria's behalf that ended up wasting his time. I'm not that inconsiderate, myself.

Maria, deleting threads is really quite pointless.

There is information in the threads that may be useful if you have further searches. Or who knows, someone else might search one day and find info, and find you.

There is simply no reason to delete a thread, other than if duplicates are posted, when they should be removed BEFORE people waste time.

By the way, I must say how very welcome you are that I went out of my way to search for and find a thread in which I had read posts from Thomas saying that he has easy access to Scottish records (a different person from Tom, I assume) and send him a private message asking that he take a look at your thread.

He has been off work sick this week, but told me he would have a look when he returned. For all you know, he will be able to find more info for you, but if you delete the threads he will have wasted his time and you will be none the wiser for his efforts.

Yes, Janey, I do read.
And I've read your posts, so I'm aware I followed your post of the same nature.
I added mine because I thought perhaps Maria hadn't understood, rather than ignored you.
Also, by adding, I wanted to nudge it to the top so she might see it.
Also, I thought another, similar post might stress the point to her that a duplicate thread simply invites people to duplicate look-ups.

There are of course two sides to every argument and thread deletion is no different.

1. You can delete your thread having extracted all that you require from the helpful people here who offer their services free of charge, while contributing little in return....................

OR

2. You can leave the thread containing all the hard work of the helpful people here who offer their services free of charge, thereby allowing others to use that information to advance their trees and even better understand the inner workings of these sites.

If we deleted all of our threads there would not be very much here to look through.
