Got the mails too, Fairthorn -- and smacked my forehead. I found Malcolm's birth and failed to find his death. A big Duh for me.

And Janice has made the contact you gave her, who confirmed what the records said, and is hot on the trail!

JaneyCanuck

Has Janice emailed to confirm that the Malcolm you found, is cross refered to Bill ( same death index refs ).

So Malcolm & Bill are the same man !

Janice is looking now, I assume, for his marriage to his widow.
( Janice found it )

You're most welcome! Fairthorn's deleted post was to say that there was info on the electoral roll that looked like I was on the right track, since it matched up perfectly with both the death you had posted and the name I found, and it's been sent on to you. I'm especially curious whether that coincidental birth turns out to be related (just being puzzle-loving and nosy) so do send me a PM when you're ready. And of course the very best of luck with the search.

THANK YOU!
Great Information Janey and Fairthorn will look closely at all you have sent, sounds god to me and thank you everyone for your help.
I could be back yet, but hopefully your information will take me to the right people.
Thank you

PS any further ideas welcome.

Janice, are you reading my suggestions at all?

JaneyCanuck Report 3 Jun 2009 02:37

Aha, one set of those births is in trees here at GR. Just search for Kenwrick born in Devon, and I'd contact any and all of the tree owners in the list, as they really are bound to be related to that Bill, in any event.

Hi Again
Just to say the only information given is that BILL KENWRICK fathered a child and that child was given KENWRICK as middle name?
Maybe as clue to child's natural Father?
Lady in question knew him as BILL KENWRICK.
Checked all other possibilities KENRICK. KENDRICK ETC.
Also checked William and all William whoevers?
Lady in question born same locality and moved abroad for a while and then came back and obviously met him again/or for first time.
Think again myself though as all in same area.
MYSTERY!
Been round in circles for weeks, still searching.
This child was adopted to save embarrasement and trying to find child really but need more background on BILL?

You do have Ancestry access?

There are four Kenwrick births in Plymouth and Tiverton 1947-1953 -- but with two different mother's surnames. One surname for the births in 47 & 48, one for the births in 49 & 53.

So I'd go hunting for Malcolm Kenwrick marriages in Devon before those births and in between the two sets of births. There doesn't seem to have been another male Kenwrick born in that area in that timeframe.

Mmmm ... any feelings about the suggestions I offered?

Janice Report 3 Jun 2009 02:23

Hi Guys
Thank you or all your help so far.
No he is not a relative and Bill as you say is not a name you would give to a child?
Searched for weeks for William and no Joy there.
Know he is or was from that district and no of his Friends in that district, but he is very hard to track down.
I believe he would have married although in the 60s he was with a Lady friend?
Any suggestions welcome and all help appreciated.
Thank You

Aha. Malcolm's father was from more like the right place.

My money's on Malcolm.

If that's the case, this could be sister Polly H I Kenwrick:

Name: Polly Helen I Symons
Birth Date: 11 Feb 1916
Death Registration Month/Year: Oct 1995
Age at death (estimated): 79
Registration district: Basingstoke
Inferred County: Hampshire
Register number: B38C
District and Subdistrict: 4911B
Entry number: 48

There are Symons-Kenwrick births possibly to match, 1943-1955 (I won't put details here as those people are likely living).

Only one Kenwrick couple having children anywhere near that area (the area where he died) in that timeframe. (Yes - other Kenwricks are almost exclusively in Warwickshire.)

How about:

Births Mar 1923
KENWRICK Malcolm Yeo Totnes 5b 218

with "Bill" as a nickname?

There are also:

Births Sep 1911
KENWRICK May C Yeo Totnes 5b 241

Births Mar 1916
Kenwrick Polly H I Yeo Totnes 5b 218

Marriages Sep 1910
Kenwrick Arthur H Newton A. 5b 327
Yeo Ethel M Newton A 5b 327

Its as well to bear in mind that the given birth date on a death cert is only as good as the informant.

Bill could be a nickname so not neccesarily a William. Do you know if he married ?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 3 Jun 2009 01:57

I'd get the death certificate and see who the informant was. It sounds like maybe it was someone who didn't know him well -- how many people are registered with the name "Bill" at birth? (Oops, a lot more than I would have thought!)

I wonder about a misspelling of the surname.

William R Kenrick Jan Feb Mar 1923 W Derby Lancashire

?

Is this a person you know / are related to, and are you sure about the name and birth info?

Janice

Janice Report 3 Jun 2009 01:54

Not wasting anyones time I have searched and do so all the time.
Could he have been born abroad?
He should be in Warwickshire or Coventry area, but not finding him for some reason.
Going to bed shortly so not hear long to relay information sorry.
