Find Ancestors

Hi, i am still trying to find the date of death for Albert Victor Brindley born in 1898/9 in Smallthorne staffordshire Albert was the son of Walter Brindley 1875 b Burslem. Albert married Mary Ann Boulton at St Margarets in Wolstanton in 1921 had two children Kathleen 1924 and Walter 1926 which have also passed away.Albert died between 1940 and 1953, i have been on Ancestry and could not find at all Please could a kind soul please help me to find this, Thanks as always Aidan.

1926 till ? is a long old search.

It means looking at every qtr of every year until a POSSIBLE entry is found

Perhaps you could avail yourself of Ancestry's free 14-day trial, which should give you enough time to carry out the search............

Hi, sorry i missed a date, Albert died between 1940 and 1953, i have been on Ancestry and could not find at all, i have been searching for months.

Can you confirm that you have subscribed to Ancestry, and viewed the images for each qtr of the years in question.............

When you say "I am still trying to find", does this mean you have had previous threads about this subject? And if so, where would one find them, to see what help has been attempted in the past?

was wondering if anyone can help this newbie ( me) i am looking for a death date for my Great Grandfather Albert V Brindley born in 1898/9 in Smallthorne staffordshire Albert was the son of Walter Brindley 1875 b Burslem. Albert married Mary Ann Boulton in Wolstanton in 1921 had two children Kathleen 1924 and Walter 1926, apparantly he died in the forties or fifties and my Gt grandmother married again to Tommy Kavaghna. i am unable to find a death entry for Albert, any help would be appreciated.

Well the Kavanagh / Brindley marriage took place in 1954 so his death must have been before that...

Do you have the 1954 marriage cert ?

Does it say that the woman is a widow?

A civil marriage would seem to suggest possible divorce...............

My Gt uncle , Alberts son told me years ago that his father Albert died young from he thinks Pneumonia, my Gt Grandmother was happily married to Albert he was the love of her life, i think my GT Grandmothers second husband Thomas k was divorced, so you could have something in that...

Do you know where G grandmother lived at the time of the 1954 marriage?
An electoral list search back a year or two might reveal when Albert ceased to be listed at the same address and thus limit the years to search for his death.

Thanks Gwyn, i beleive she lived in Tunstall, but i do not know address, just a question, how do i search electoral registers?. thanks for help btw

You need an address to search electoral lists, ..or patience to search if you just have a very good idea of the area.

The old lists are generally held at a main library or archive local to the address to be searched.
Within the town the lists are then subdivided into parliamentary wards, eg West ward, central ward etc.
Within the wards the streets are listed alphabetically, with the house numbers and residents listed for each address.

The marriage certificate ( 1954 ) would give you an address.

Hi alan and thanks, he was born in 1898 in Smallthorne staffordshire, he lived at 11 market street in smallthorne in 1901. My mom seems to remember a house on Pleasant street in Burslem/Tunstall in the forties she used to go to, although she is unsure.

Linda, that could be it, where would i find that info please?

I found it on Ancestry on the full Death Indexes 1837 – 1983.

You have to search year by year and qtr by qtr.

And just for future ref, what you may not have twigged to yet is that the death Linda found has not been transcribed so no automated search will find it. She had to download and read the images for each year until she found it.

And, multiple threads about the same thing are always undesirable.

Janeycanuck, thank you for your further insight into the world of Genes reunited, like i said i am newish to this and no i had not Twigged as you put it. My apologies for my multiple threads, this one and another, you have now explained how to add to the existing thread for as you put future reference so again thank you for your expertise which is so precious to us newbies.
