I think the C B S Tubb is Charlotte, Mary 'Tubb' nee Holmes' daughter. |

Wow, with regards to the last one, that gives a few more family members - the name 'Tubb' is, in 1901, 'Tubt', although other searches for this name and the people it belongs to have been fruitless. Mary Ann Holmes, the daughter of Charlotte and Thomas, marries someone with this name, or similiar sounding/spelling, although I only had three children for her, Fanny, Charlotte and Dora, who appear in the 1901 cenus. So i now have a J L and a C B S to play with!! |

I really can't express how grateful I am for all your help and information, the picture is becoming more and more complete now of this family. Particularly the possible remarriage of Thomas Holmes, that's a new lead I can follow to find if it bears any fruit. Once more, thanks so so much for your time and efforts |

Just as a bit of light relief after the 1891 census block, here is Charlotte's birth: |

Folks, the real stumbling block is 1891. Can't find any trace of Charlotte at all. |

Looks like it is Old Bolingbroke - googled it! It's in Lincs, looks rather charming. Historical too. |

Hi, I'm trying to trace a Holmes family. They began as Thomas Holmes and Charlotte Humble, born 1824 and 1833 respectively, in 'Old Bolingbroke'? and Cottingham, also respectively. They married in 1856 in Hull; I have found them in the 1861 census living together with their three eldest children, Jane, Mary Ann and Henry, and I have found Charlotte in 1871 living with these three plus another four. However I can find absolutely no trace of them, or of their children, until 1901 where I found Charlotte, widowed, living with her daughter Mary 'Tubt', grandchildren Fanny, Charlotte and Dora 'Tubt', and three of her own children. Can anyone tell me why they wouldn't appear in the other missing census'? |
