Margaret,

You might want to add some dates and locations to this but your best bet is to put these names in your tree.

Hello Pat
Can you clarify..................
Your friend is Margaret Lindley, she was adopted, this is her adopted name.

Would you like to find out about her birth family (you need to give her birth name, with her permission) or adopted family?

Also year & place of birth are essential really
Regards
Sam

Hello Pat
Can you check her father is definitely Edward, I can only find an ERNEST M Lindley marrying an Ivy J, that marriage was in 1941

We would need to establish the parents marriage in order to pinpoint other relatives.

Is there anone in particular Margaret is looking for?
i.e. fathers side, mothers side?

Hi,

If she is looking for her birth family , then we would need to know her 'birth name' in order to try and help her not her adoptive name, does she know this ?

Hi Mary,

You are very kind to try to help your friend but I think you have to 'lay it on the line' !!

Just let her know that there are lots of people on here willing to help but that if she 'can't be bothered' then neither can we !!!

No disrespect to you but it needs to be made clear to her - If she is wanting help she must put in at least as much effort as us.

Let us know what she says (perhaps she is 'frightened' of finding the info?? - we never know what other people are feeling/thinking !!

Get her to talk to you and let us know if she REALLY wan't us to find this info.

Best wishes,

Dea x

Hello Dea
She wants to find them but doesn't seem to realise how much effort people are willing to put it.
Tomorrow I will have to tell her she has to help herself.
Trouble is I'm a softie and feel sorry for her and of course she takes advantage of this.
Thanks for help

This seems very unusual, looking for an adopted family. If the marriage found by Smiley is correct, they seem to have had a child themselves.

Margarets dad was definitely Edward Murray but Ernestr m.c. is right one as her mum was Ivy Janet Anstiss and they did have a daughter,Brenda Francis who is a year younger than her. She was brought up in Hayes Middx and her dad was in the army in Malta and they lived in Crowland Ave. Hayes and her paternal granparents lived in Monmouth Rd Hayes. her maternal grandparents lived in Hillingdon Middx.
Her dad had one bro. Arthur married to Ruby.

She says to thank you for your help.

I would ask Jean (thread on Records Office) to look for relatives on 2009 census.

When did she last have contact with them? Odds are her adoptive parents are no longer alive. Ivy was born in 1914/1915.

Is it Brenda she's looking to find?

Will PM their childrens' names.

Hello all

Margaret now tells me she's looking for extended family. With info shes now given me I have traced her paternal uncle and his family we are just waiting for d.cert. to see who registered the death.
She knows where her sister is but would like to find more relatives if poss.
Her adopted mother died when M was only 9 and her a.father when she was 15.

Thanks for all your help I'll keep you posted.

I haven't done anything on my tree this year -current family issues- but this has given me the incentive to start again so I'll be pestering again.

Thanks again sorry my info was misleading.

Regards Pat
