I am not sure about this one, as Jane would have only been sixteen, and if they are the Jane and Thomas listed on the 1901 census record that we have, Thomas would have been 18.

The only marriage in glamorganshire coming up on ....freebmd,,,,that I can find

Certificate arrived, but it's thrown up a whole new can of worms!! Daughter was not one of the witnesses, they appear to have been Albert's eldest son and his wife. The major thing is, Jane's father is listed as David Williams, NOT Brice. He was a shoemaker. So it looks like we had the wrong first marriage. If anyone can help further, I would be very grateful, but, if not, thanks for the help you have already offered.
By the way, the date of the marriage to Albert was actually 24th December, 1921, and Jane is listed as being 41 years old, so we do seem to have her age right. She was also definitely a widow.

Have tried register office and they do not give that kind of info over the phone, so am applying for the marriage certificate

Was the daughter perhaps a witness on the marriage certificate of Jane and Albert ?

Thanks, Pam. That means I can cross three off the list I have of about 30 female births in the Merthyr and Pontypridd areas!! They seem to have registered in either of those areas, making things even more difficult

I put Margaret Jane Hughes into the 1911 census with relevant birth year, etc, and could find nothing. Tried with a +/- 3 (well you know how people makes errors!) and came up with one born 1903!!! So no good there. We will keep fingers crossed for Reg Office, unless someone comes up with something in the meantime

As the child was born in March there is every possibility it was not registered until the June Quarter. These two caught my eye:

Maybe a phone call to Merthyr reg office asking them the best way to locate the birth as you have fathers name,mothers name and maiden name and the month that baby was born(march) and approx address of birth from census.
No 10 Queen street.
Then they may search the registers for it.

Unless you can find them on 1911,I have had a look and there are too many possibles.

Sorry, forgot dates for Jane and Thomas. The nearest we have is the info on 1901 census which Pam mentioned. It's the "Child Hughes" that we are interested in.

So you are looking for the daughter of Jane and Thomas Hughes born sometime after 1900?
Do you have ages and places of birth for Jane and thomas?
Have you found them on 1901 or 1911?
If not you really need to buy the marriage cert,that Choccy has put up, to get their ages to find them and then maybe the daughter will turn up with them on census.

I am trying to find information for a just discovered cousin in Canada. Her father, Harold Russ, was the son of Albert Russ and Elizabeth James. Albert was born in Somerset, moved to Treorchy where he married Elizabeth, a local girl. After Elizabeth died,(in 1913) he re-married, in 1921, Jane (possibly nee Brice) who was the widow of Thomas Hughes. She had a daughter from her marriage to Thomas. Has anyone any information on this daughter, please?
