I'll keep it in my notes. I've searched through all possible marriages with name variants and still can't find it. It's a bit strange why the couple wouldn't marry though?

I've also found this one before. This is a different William and Hannah. I found them on a later census when my William was still in Sheffield. No matter what i try it's always a dead end. Sometimes genealogy can be very frustating!!!! :S

Frederick was actually the illegitimate son of Selina who was on the 1841 census with him. I found his baptism while trawling through Norton's baptism records. It's very strange why there doesn't seem to be no marriage for William. I know he was James uncle so the marriage certifcate would give me the father of both William and James's mother Mary.
Thanks again

Derek , i am more awake now looking at the 2 1841 census i posted note they both have a "Pepper" living with them? I then looked for mother Mary (1791) in 1851 and wonder about this remembering that ages were rounded in 1841 Name: Mary Morton Age: 65 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1786 Relation: Head Gender: F (Female) Where born: Hemsworth, Derbyshire, England Civil parish: Norton Ecclesiastical parish: St James
Name: Frederick Morton Age: 8 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1843 Relation: Grandson Gender: M (Male) Where born: Norton, Derbyshire, England Civil parish: Norton Ecclesiastical parish: St James County/Island: Derbyshire Country: England County/Island: Derbyshire
sus about Gertrude Copley Name: Gertrude Copley Age: 58 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1793 Relation: Visitor Gender: F (Female) Where born: Sheffield, Yorkshire, England Civil parish: Norton Ecclesiastical parish: St James County/Island: Derbyshire Country: England
??could grandson Frederick be Jos's son in 1841

Yes i think this could possibly be James in 1841. The only problem i have with this is that on the 1841 census William was a cutler but on every other census he was a gardener. I suppose once again the marriage certificate would help me with that. I'm starting to think the couple never married. :S

No Basically James Morton was born to Mary Morton (no father) on Cupola Street in Sheffield in 1839. Mary is at Cupola Street on the 1841 census but James is not. There is a James Morton living in Norton with a Mary Morton (possible grandmother) and a William Morton (who could be the uncle who's marriage i'm after). Because i don't know anything about James mother, his uncle who James lives with in 1851 could be the answer to who Mary's parents are. Thats why i need to find the marriage of William and Hannah.
Thanks :S

Thanks for taking the time to look the info up. I already have Hannah Bolers baptism from Brampton to William and Elizabeth. It is William Morton's side i am more concerned about because i am a descendant of James Morton (Williams nephew). James was an illegitimate child to Mary Ann Morton from Sheffield who is obviously Williams sister. I have not been able to find William and Mary's parents but if i found the marriage for William and Hannah it would hopefully show Williams father.
Thanks again

Her mother could have remarried, so that need not be Hannah's maiden name.

Hi
I am having problems trying to find the marriage of William Morton to Hannah (or Ann) Boler. On the 1851 census they are living in Barnsley in Yorkshire with their nephew James Morton. William is from Sheffield and Hannah is from a place called North Leads in Brampton Derbyshire. The reason i know her surname is because she was visiting her mother on the 1861 census. I cannot find them on the 1841 census. They could have married anytime between 1837 and 1851.
Any help much appreciated Thankyou Derek
