Curious, on that 1891 census Mary & Henry Smith are listed as children of Reuben & Elizabeth but they're aged 74 and 73 and the children are 17 and 15. Kate Palmer is a grandaughter.

The 1891 name change has this against it

Smith rather than Alerop
Henry's name is Smith, ditto Mary Smith above. They are brother and sister and were living in the same household in the 1881 census. Son of Louise Smith, and actually grandson of Reuben and Elizabeth Altrop (not Alerop).

I have henry on 1881 census which does say that Reuben & Elizabeth are his grandparents, there name on 1881 is Hartrop, am now curious to see that they are noted down as son/daughter on 1891,

I have Henry married to Johanna Carey at Crockenhill Kent in 1902

It was Elizabeth that married twice

Now i have hit a brick wall as i can't see them in the 1851

On the 1861 Elizabeth is down as Unmarried..so she might not have been married before

Im stumped

I can't see a birth for any of the Ashby children

It might be best to get Louisa & Henrys marriage cert for her dads name as i really thinking that Rueben might of been her dad
