You could be right Lancashireann

It may pay just to put one name on the request not both

as it does seem they are being a little bit akward

Debbie......No, we're definitely NOT the mad ones! LOL

Lancashireann......yep, they really can be that picky!!

It could even be that the person is putting *Mile End Old Town* and not *Mile End* :-((((

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 20 Aug 2009 16:44

could the difference be as picky as Fredrick & Frederick

Debbie K Report 20 Aug 2009 16:40

This is a strange one

They make you feel you are going mad But living where Marion lives it makes it twice as hard

So we are not the mad one's it's the GRO

That makes me feel better LOL

Hi Debbie

No, you don't need to go to S***savers......but I do! LOL When I first looked I looked under births and thought *gro are right*.......but they're not!

Deb K

Contrary Mary Report 20 Aug 2009 16:20

It's definitely there on FMP - exactly as others on here have posted for you......maybe the GRO peeps need to go to S***savers! LOL

If you want I can save and email the pages to you with them on and your friend could send the order in by post with the pages attached :-))

Mary

Edit: Also the lady at GRO is wrong.......Ancestry transcriptions might sometimes be wrong......but their images are exactly the same ones as FMP have!

Edit again:
Marion, your friend would be better off just ordering the cert using ONE of the names only......if she is putting both names and one of the names is wrong then GRO will say it's incorrect and won't send it.

This is all very strange

Had another look

Emily is defently Mile End 1c 672

Frederick Edward DAVISON could be Mile end 1c 672 or 1c 678 ?

do you know 100 % that these two married

or have you got one name and trying to find the other half

Sorry guys and gals,
This is what GRO told my friend who telephoned them..My friend spoke to a lady and........

they do not have anyone by those names in that quarter in 1890.She said ancestry is sometimes wrong as they have been copied. She said try and find it on Find My Past as that is what they use and they are correct.

Goodnight

Hi Marion

I had a look at the original on Ancestry and the ref is correct I would send them a email as your friend has given the correct infomation.

How frustrating

Good Luck

They might have been looking in the wrong place - would advise you to ring or email them with the reference.
It is just possible that your relative has clicked one wrong thing - have done this myself.

Without knowing what your friend ordered exactly , perhaps he made a spelling mistake ? I would phone GRO and see what they can do.

Edit just looked at the originals on ancestry and 1c 672 is correct.
I've been tripped up by putting an upper case letter instead of lower by accident, GRO are really picky sometimes !

The Lady Marion Report 20 Aug 2009 14:48

Thanks guys for reading this message... A friend of mine who lives in New-Zealand ordered his Grandparents Marriage Cert through GRO and paid for it on line....GRO emailed my friend back and said no marriage was to be found...Strange I thought as it was me who found the marriage on freebmd...Here is what I found..

Marriages Mar 1890

DAVISON Frederick Edward Mile End 1c 672

Phillips Emily Mile End 1c 672

My friends Grandparents above marriage.. No GRO informed my friend.. No marriage found. I have now been informed that GRO uses marriages from Find My Past so if anyone has find mu past can they help please. I have found my friends Grandparents on the Census for 1891 and 1901 Mile End..

Thankyou so very much.
