I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL WHO REPLIED TO MY QUERY REGARDING ELLEN MAYALL AND WOULD LIKE TO SAY TO CHRISTINE THAT YOU MANAGED TO FIND ELLEN AND HER FAMILY. THE QUERY WAS FROM A FRIEND OF MINE WHO HAS MOVED TO SCOTLAND FROM NEW ZEALAND AND HAS BEEN TRYING IN VAIN TO FIND ANY OF HER ENGLISH ANCESTORS. I GAVE HER THE DETAILS THAT CHRISTINE HAD POSTED AND SHE WAS DELIGHTED TO FIND THAT THERE WERE HER ENGLISH RELATIONS. THE DETAILS FROM THE 1891 AND 1901 CENSUS ARE CORRECT. MY FRIEND ALSO HAS SCOTTISH ANCESTRY IN HER BLOOD TOO AND HAS MANAGED TO FIND OUT A LOT ABOUT THEM AND WHERE THEY CAME FROM WHICH WAS FROM DUMFRIESSHIRE IN SCOTLAND AND IT IS QUITE FUNNY AS SHE HAS NOW MOVED INTO A COTTAGE 5 MILES FROM WHERE THE FAMILY ORIGINALLY CAME FROM. MY FRIEND WANTS TO LET YOU ALL KNOW THAT ELLEN WHO INCIDENTALLY WAS CALLED NELLIE BY THE FAMILY MARRIED AN IRISHMAN CALLED JOHN MURPHY IN NEW ZEALAND. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.

Freewheel - good point abt the water damaged 1851, as this affected both Salford - Regent Rd and Salford - Greengate, so probably affected John here. I'd forgotten abt that.
