Glitter Baby ~ Yes, i think that it certianly the right family in 1861.

I think the 1871 is correct as well...on the 1891 census for Ann Stephenson i posted on the first page she has her 21 year old niece Isabella MITCHELL living with her!

Choccy ~ That could be the correct death, 1851 is the last trace we have of either him or his wife Isabella.

From IGI:

Rebecca MITCHELL
Born: 08 Dec 1866 Leigh, Midlothian, Scotland
Father: Charles MITCHELL
Mother: Isabella MC KERSIE

Looks like that is the correct family!

EDIT:
That 1864 marriage between Charles Mitchell and Isabella Norwell is on ancestry.
Gives her marital status as Widowed and her father as Robert Mckersie. I think it says deceased in the box for his occupation.

I'm sorry I can't help my surname McKersey should be MacKersey but was changed in NZ at the time of my aunt's birth approx 1910. I have been told my family may have come from Northern Ireland.
