Well keep posting, just because otherwise a lot of people will have nothing to do to avoid working!

Just be sure to

(a) give *all* yer info
and
(b) say where it came from so we can cast our jaundiced eyes on it and weigh it up.

A wee word of warning - never completely trust information that family members (or anyone else for that matter) offer. Just use it as a starting point - peoples memories often play tricks. Often too they don't think to give you helpful information. If you are going to do this properly back up the information with offical records where possible. You don't have to buy all the certificates in one go - just be patient! Remember - this is a hobby so if you're asked what you want for Christmas or Birthdays ask them to give you the money to buy a couple of certificates.

If you want your tree to be based on fact, you do need to buy the certificates. If you don't have a subsrcription to Ancestry.co.uk or any of the sites that give census access come back to this posting as you gather certificates and someone who has access will do lookups for you. Again, though details on the census records are only as good as the information given by the householder. Often ages and places of birth vary from census to census but again gives a good starting point and gives approximate years of birth for any children from a marriage.

Good Luck with your research.
