Hi if anyone is going in to Liverpool RO could you please look up the marriage details fiche of George Williams and Margaret Connor at the end of 1862/start of 1863.

The church was St Michael in the City, C of E, Upper Pitt Street. He should be about 20 ish (born in Nova Scotia) and she will be about 17? (born in Ireland)

Any details would be lovely. Not on the Lancs OPC.
Thanks Jac

Hi I have that index etc but as my last one took 10 weeks to arrive and there are copies of some registers in Liverpool you never know someone may well want to look it up. Ta J

I live in Australia and when I order certs they arrive in 7-10 days, also have ancestors from Liverpool.

10 weeks is excessive. I would still order the certificate though. If it is not processed by the date they say, contact them and let them know. I allow 4 days from they time GRO give then ask what is happening.

Yes they have now changed their site to say 8 - 10 weeks wait!!

This register is in Liverpool Record Office apparently - Microfilm 283MIC.

If anyone is going could you please look it up. I will try to get into Liverpool myself shortly.

Thanks

I may well go to Liverpool and find this myself. I went on the GRO site which said the requests must be on their own application forms and gave a link to request one. So I did. Got a reply back to say they can't email one to me so I have to write to request one and then send it back.

As we are in the middle of a post-strike I can see this is never going to happen!!

Thanks for the offer Alan. I will phone the number given by Starr1 and try to get it sorted. Thanks again. Jac

I managed to call into Crosby Library, outskirts of Liverpool, and they had the GRO application forms. I have now posted off for the marriage cert. Thanks for all of your replies. Jac.

Hi Jac...

Just incase you don't know you could have ordered it by post direct from the Lancashire Record Office. The marriage is on the Lancashire bmd website.

http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/

If you click on the reference number of the marriage there is a form you can print off complete with the LRO address.

Hi. I use that site for searching a lot but didn't realise the cert requests could go there. Any idea how long these take? Jac

William

William Report 22 Nov 2009 19:42

Jac, probably quicker to order online, with the post strike now over.

Best Wishes,
William.

I have applied by post to GRO Southport. OK it costs a little more but is about 9 weeks quicker than Liverpool Records Office.

I like the idea that you can put an extra piece of info on the form to help them double-check you are asking for the right person.

I have applied for a birth cert and there were quite a few John Smiths born in Liverpool in that year but I know the mum was Sarah so that is the checking point I used.

Hope there weren't too many of this combination.

Hi Jac

It should cost no more to order through GRO Southport ie £7. Unless you asking for a search and not quoting a ref number never pay more than £7 - if they are asking more recheck what you entered

you can order online using this site (you have to register the first time but free)

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

make sure you tick the box GRO ref known

out of interest where does John Smith come into the picture - I thought we were looking at a marriage between Williams & Connors

JacD

JacD Report 26 Nov 2009 18:12

By post it is £8.50 but I don't mind paying this bit more as I don't have a credit card and don't want to put my debit card details on there.

I was just grass-hopping with John Smith. The son from Williams / Connor married an Alice Smith and this is a brother of hers.

I have never found the maiden name of the Sarah who married James Smith so this cert should hopefully give me that. Fingers crossed xxx Jac
