I am very pleased to say that I am almost certain that this is their marriage certificate as the locations fit very nicely with the original info I had. Many thanks to everyone, but especially Christine. As a bonus, I am now another link up my tree due to having found his father the first time I was trying to find him! Am totally hooked ... x |

Have you found Sarah born 1857 on the census to check how old her father is? |

Christine - just saw your next message with the marriage cert - this sounds like them! I'll go and check but thanks again... |

Thanks Lindsey for all your help, but I'm starting to suspect this is not them. From our family records, Edward Gee was married to Ann Smith of the same area and they lived in Lake Street. He was a wheelwright and they had a daughter called Sarah Jane Gee (DOB 02.07.1857 in Leighton Buzzard). I'll go and dig around a bit more... also thanks for the tip about Ancestry - I haven't paid there yet so am hoping to get it done here and save some cash! |

Thank you Lindsey - that's a great help and so close it's very tempting to hope this really is him. He and his wife (I thought she was 'Ann') had a daughter called Sarah who is the next link downwards in my tree, and of course it's perfectly possible that they had other children as well. Just wish it was possible to put my hand in the screen and turn the page myself! |

Thank you so much Kath! That's interesting - in the family records that we have, they lived in Lake Street - the census record I looked at where he was the last entry gave the address as 'Leck Street' which is probably a mis-spelling. I did notice that the actual written census shows his name as the abbreviation for Edward - ie 'E' with a squiggle, and the Gee part is hard to make out - it could easily have been interpreted another way. Do you know of any way I can view the next page anyway - would love to see for myself? |

Would be very grateful for any help on this. When researching my ancestor I have got the correct page, but unfortunately he is the last entry on that page and I cannot see any other members of the household!! It's very frustrating and I'd be very grateful if someone could look up the next page and let me know any other info or preferably send me the computer file of that page. My relation is Edward Gee, DOB 1791 Occ.: wheelwright. Living in Leck (?) Street, Leighton Buzzard in 1841 census aged 50. Record office numbers 107/5 pages 21 and 22 (he is final entry on p22). I need to see the first entries on p23 of that record, which should list any other members of the household. His wife's name (if she is still alive in that census) is Ann. I have all my fingers and toes crossed! Many thanks. |
