My Grandfathers name was Benjamin Brown and as far as I am aware he had 2 sons Frederick Cecil (my farther) John and daughter Audrey.

I do not know my grandmothers maiden name or any of the above birthdays, I have sent a text to my sister who is in touch with my step-mother to find out my farther's birthday details because I need all this for my passport forms.

I really do appreciate all the help your all giving me

What's your father's name and when and where was he born? His mother's maiden name will be on his birth registration on Ancestry.

Would your father's birth certificate not give Ben's wife's name? Unless of course Ben's wife wasn't your father's mother........

I'm so sorry everyone how clumsy of me to miss out his name? Well it was late and this site is very addictive lol

His name was Benjamin Brown and the most I learned about him was when I received some paperwork from my deceased father's estate and in there was a Telegram and scroll from the king, on the back of the telegram was the name of his ship s.s.ceramic, I searched for the ship and found a book had been written about it and its soul survivor.

Listed in there is a causality list, and Benjamin brown is listed in 2 sections The Merchant navy & Ceramics Australian crew and both listed from Sydney, he is listed on Tower hill memorial and also in Canberra in Australia so I'm really confused.

I only know his wife's name had Florence in it and all my info is from the s.s.ceramics site
Http://www.Caroline.howse.btinternet.co.UK/casualtylistindex.htm
He had another son who's name I think was John or Peter and a daughter called Audrey

May I say thank you all so much for your replies and so quickly

Janey,

There were no Ben. Brown's listed in the Australian Merchant Navy.

So I would think Liverpool, U.K. until Jeff tells us differently.

Good question. His nationality on the WWII record is given as United Kingdom.

These two Benjamin Browns (no middle initial) would have been 44 on that date, and were born in Liverpool:

Births Sep 1898
Brown Benjamin Liverpool 8b 65

Births Jun 1898
Brown Benjamin W. Derby 8b 559

Oh eek. Was that Liverpool, NSW he moved to??

Did he marry in NSW?

There are 5 Benjamin Brown marriages 1915-1944. If one is him, the certificate should give his parents' names.
