Thank you for your replies, I have done all the searches, I'm now interested in finding any connections to the Dandy family who are living and can perhaps give me a background to these people.

Thank your for your replies to my post, I would really like to hear from anyone who has the surname Dandy in their family tree and can associated it it with the Eccleston or Bolton areas.

Thank you for the information, I already have such a lot on the Dandy family. There seems to be a black hole into which the ones in Bolton have fallen! I have had lots of messages from people, but for some reason the Bolton family haven't been amongst them. I am related to Jacob Dandy of Eccleston/Croston, he moved to Bolton and my grandfather James was born there. James married Martha Jepson and they had two daughters, Hannah (my grandmother) and Mary Ann. I have a lot of information about these two, it's James's siblings I would like to hear from. My sister remembers being at Derby Street School with girls named Dandy. Where are they now?

As a matter of interest for anyone, Jacob's sister married a John Ollerton and they became Mormons, they left Liverpool in 1856 to escape religious persectution and sailed to Boston, USA. They became part of the ill-fated Martin Company of Handcart Pioneers and both Alice and her husband died on the Plains of Wyoming. There are some short films about them on YouTube.
