	You wil not find a birth cert even in the UK for years prior to 1837 -your closest will be a baptism for which try the IGI on Familysearch website.

Member Since: February 2005 Posts: 4 Send Message	Please excuse my ignorance but I am new to all this! On the 1841 census record, my great, great, great grandfather listed his birth place as West Indies in around 1808. How on earth would I find a birth certificate for him? Charlotte.
