Hi David,

Can you give his year of birth and the names of his parents?

I cannot locate anything in the Australian Archives, or any service records. The BDM for Wstern Australia does not show any marriages or death for anyone by this name.

Hi Ann that record can't be him as David has stated that the parents are:

"His parents were James Sargent and Annie Fox" not William & Gertrude.

There is a Joseph Sargent buried at Karakatta cemetery Perth in 1993 age 74.

You can look at this yourself if you "Google" Metropolitan cemeteries board, then search facilty.

I am totally overwhelmed by all of your responses and the many exciting leads you have given me!

Armed with the info you all found; I've spoken again with one of my Uncles and he is almost certain that Joe was married to someone called Mary !! He also remembered that Joe did die in the early 1990's.

So it's looking very likely that the Joe Sargent buried in Karrakatta cemetery could very well be my lost Uncle; and I can't tell you how excited I am to hear that his wife might still be alive!!

Thank you all so very much for the time and effort you have so selflessly given to helping me find my relative. I would never have found this information on my own.
